Is Quercus Right For You?

When considering us for your project, you may want to think about:
  • Being open to using exciting native plants, including cacti
  • Being open to working with a landscape architect and new ideas
  • The refined beauty of the high desert (but stay closed to eastern gloom!)
  • How your project needs to function and look
  • Having a realistic budget, based on the design intent and project area
  • Expectations for a project: neatness, maintenance, water use
  • Avoid purchasing items for incorporation until design is complete
  • How you will minimize animal damage
  • Existing turf removal? Albuquerque, 768.3655; El Paso, 594.5508

    Why Hire a Landscape Architect?
A landscape architect has comprehensive knowledge of the infrastructure of an outdoor living space. A landscape architect will save you money and time by:
  • Planning for site function, habitat, and views
  • Planning for the manipulation of storm water to benefit plantings
  • Solving problems in creative ways
  • Designing your landscape to minimize future problems
  • Observing part or all of the installation

The American Society of Landscape Architects has some other valuable guidelines for selecting a landscape professional for your project:

    How Quercus Works

    Phone Hours
We are available from 8 am to 12 pm, except by special arrangement, to complete designs at other times. Correspondence is returned within two working days.

    Design and Drawings
We design only projects where appropriate, sustainable principles are desired.

Design is a creative process and will not be rushed. Challenging designs are often placed on hold to refine later.

All projects require a Fee Proposal signed by client. Pro-bono / Non-profit projects are subject to additional conditions.

    Refund and Warranty
Consulting / design time and fees are not refundable. A fee proposal and balances due may be withdrawn, if client at the review meeting deems work as inadequate.

Quercus is a consultant, not a contractor, and does not warrantee any contractor / installer work. Quercus is not responsible for any losses due to factors such as:
  • Acts of God, civil unrest or war, extreme weather
  • Animals, carelessness on the part of project users or owners
  • Installation and maintenance personnel, contractors, and their practices

    Payment
Unless otherwise stated, all work shall begin upon receipt of a retainer payment and signed fee proposal. All consultations shall be paid for at the end of that meeting. Construction administration additional to fee proposal amount shall be paid upon request. If any balance payment is not made within the terms of an invoice, it is unlikely that further work shall be performed.

Free designs are not provided, including any form of commission or "built-in" fees.

Final work is released only when the balance due is paid in full.

    Time is limited.
The client is paying for a block of Quercus time and knowledge, not just design. If that time is used up on items other than those included in the proposal before the design is complete, additional hourly fees apply.
