Summary: While many think there is no place
like theirs, numerous places elsewhere (some surprising) with similar natural
environments offer lessons for our landscapes and even the most provincial
person. When
planning a landscape, we often compare what grew in other places and consider
what might still work in our location. The following places have similar
temperature ranges, precipitation amounts, climate patterns, and types of
plants…and what you can expect from their landscape uses are similar. VERY
SIMILAR means almost identical in most aspects, and FAIRLY SIMILAR means the
places are identical in a minimum number of environmental aspects. Either,
way, the following places are worth looking at for plant choices that you may
not find locally, but are otherwise quite appropriate. The following are
listed in approximate order: Albuquerque
